TQW Studio Gallery

My husband and I just built a new house which I totally designed. Getting my studio just right has been so much fun. I was limited to 13’x15’ with a 4’x8’ closet with pocket door so not to loose any space and its just to store my fabric and accessories. It helped to have 10 foot ceilings. I have plenty of windows for natural light including French doors going out to the pool. I designed a cutting station with plenty of drawers below and an ironing/pressing station from an antique sewing machine. Then a corner work station for my embroidery machine. In the middle of the room my sewing table. Also, a good area for my 5ft Baby Lock Coronet. Then of course a nice comfy chair so hubby can come visit. And a TV to watch all the great quilting tutorials and webinars.

Since I do not have a large space for my quilt studio and at the time wanted an area in my house to have for quilting I looked for ideas on internet and found a YouTube on an inexpensive table and found a way to raise my portable table with Styrofoam and my handy husband did the rest - it has worked great - so if you don't want to spend much - get some Styrofoam and a clear plastic cover by the yard and you have a slick surface so fabric glides easy.

All my shelves in my room got cleared for what else but fabric and a section of my closet. My design board is on a rod so I can have when needed and those handy office big clips I attach to closet doors and pushed away when not in use. My handy small design boards are made of cardboard covered with design board fabric and duct tape on back.

Have fun in putting your quilt studio together whatever budget or space may be - make it a fun place for your love of quilting - better than having to put away cuz we don't want to do that.
