Lazy Daisy Stitch Tutorial

Welcome to Telecast Thursday where I'm continuing my series on hand embroidery with the Lazy Daisy stitch. This hand embroidery stitch is great for creating single flower petals or can be combined to create actual flowers. It's easy to do, but very effective and you'll find lots of uses for the Lazy Daisy stitch, so let's get started!

Chain Stitch Tutorial

Welcome to Telecast Thursday. This week I have a new video on hand embroidery. In this video, I'll show you how to do the chain stitch. I love the look of the chain stitch and use it anytime I want some extra texture or to outline a shape. It's also perfect for vines and flower stems. It's one of those hand embroidery stitches that looks more complex than it actually is - I like that!

Telecast Thursday - Cartwheel Mini Quilt

Hi everyone and welcome to another Telecast Thursday. This week I thought I'd show you one of my recent projects.

I found the pattern for this Cartwheel Mini Quilt in Issue 6 of Love Patchwork and Quilting magazine and was excited to use up some scraps creating it. I typically do appliqué quilts, so a completely pieced quilt was a bit of a change for me. I was pleased with the result and love the bright, happy fabrics.

While I love piecing tops, I'm not so good at quilting them so I was very happy when my friend, Lee of Lala's Lovelys Quilting offered to quilt it for me. Lee does wonderful work on her APQS long-arm quilting machine and I was so glad that the top was quilted - and the quilting looked so much better than what I would have done. You can see the project - and Lee's quilting designs - in the video below or on my Youtube channel.

French Knot Tutorial

Welcome to Telecast Thursday. This week I'm continuing my series on hand embroidery by focussing on the French knot stitch. This stitch can be used for many different purposes. I like to use it to add texture to an embroidered piece and it's also perfect for creating eyes or other small details in embroidery or appliqué projects.

Fly Stitch Tutorial

It's another Telecast Thursday and time for more hand embroidery stitches! So far we've mastered the back stitch, the running stitch and the seed stitch. This week's video shows you how to do a fly stitch, which is a little more complicated than the first three stitches that you learned. Don't worry, it's not that complex and it is very effective if you use it on swirls and circles.

I hope you're finding these tutorials helpful and are trying out some of these stitches on actual projects. If you're looking for projects using these stitches, check out my FREE embroidery patterns. You'll be learning more stitches in future Telecast Thursday tutorials, allowing you to complete some of the designs, such as Flourishing Heart, that use more than these three stitches.

Let me know how the stitching goes - and send me photos of your projects.
